æsthete|ˈɛsθiːt, ˈiːsθiːt| [ad. Gr. αἰσθητής one who perceives; cf. athlete.] One who professes a special appreciation of what is beautiful, and endeavours to carry his ideas of beauty into practical manifestation. Cf. æsthetic a. 4 and n. 3.
