Lushootseed, n. and a. Brit. |ləˈʃuːtsiːd|, U.S. |ləˈʃutˌsid| Plural unchanged, -s [‹ Lushootseed dxwləšúcid language of the Puget Sound region w-, -úcid language; compare ləšúcid what is understandable.] A. n. The Salishan language of the people of the Puget Sound in Washington state. Formerly called Puget (Sound) Salish (cf. Salish n.). The first dialect of Lushootseed to be studied was Nisqually (cf. Nisqually n.).
