Compare classical Latin Massȳlus (also Massȳlius), adjective, often used poetically in sense ‘African’.] A. n. A native or inhabitant of the part of North Africa formerly known as Numidia, corresponding roughly to modern-day Algeria. Cf. Numidian n.
