mastoidectomy Surg.|mæstɔɪˈdɛktəmɪ| [f. mastoid a. and n. + -ectomy.] Any operation for the relief of inflammation of or within the mastoid process (esp. within the cavities, i.e. the mastoid cells and mastoid antrum, inside this process), as by penetrating into and cleaning out these cavities; excision of the mastoid process.
