melanæmia Path.|mɛləˈniːmɪə| [mod.L., f. Gr. µελαν-, µέλας black + αἷµα blood. Cf. G. melanȧmie (Frerichs in Günsb. Zeitschr. 1855).] A morbid condition, associated with severe forms of malarial fever, in which the blood contains granules and flakes of black or brown pigment.
