mellone Chem.|ˈmɛləʊn| Also mel(l)on. [Named by Liebig in 1834; f. mel- (as in melam) + -one.] A compound of carbon and nitrogen obtained as a yellow powder by the action of heat on certain cyanogen-compounds.
