mengovirus, n. Biol.|ˈmɛŋgəʊvaɪrəs| Also Mengo virus. [f. the name of Mengo District, Buganda, Uganda, where the virus was first isolated.] A picornavirus originally found in monkeys but capable of infecting other species, the infection in humans being characterized by encephalomyelitis.
