modalism|ˈməʊdəlɪz(ə)m| [f. modal + -ism.] The Sabellian doctrine that the distinction in the Trinity is ‘modal’ only, i.e. that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are merely three different modes of manifestation of the Divine nature.
