‖ Myrmecobius|mɜːmɪˈkəʊbɪəs| Also anglicized myrmecobe (in Dicts.). [mod.L. (Waterhouse, Proc. Zool. Soc., July 1836), a. Gr. µυρµηκόβιος, f. µυρµηκ(ο)-, -µηξ ant + -βιος living, βιοῦν to live.] A genus of insectivorous marsupials, typical of the sub-family Myrmecobiinæ; an animal of this genus.
