nemesia|nəˈmiːʒ(ɪ)ə| [mod.L. (E. P. Ventenat Jardin de la Malmaison (1803) 41), f. Gr. νεµέσιον a name used by Dioscurides for a similar plant.] An annual or perennial herb of the genus so called, native to southern Africa, belonging to the family Scrophulariaceæ, and usually bearing racemes of flowers of various colours.
