IX. 65).] A syndrome characterized by œdema, albuminuria, a fall in the plasma albumin, and usu. an increase in the blood cholesterol, formerly attributed to degeneration of the renal tubules but now known to arise from increased permeability to protein of the glomerular capillary basement membranes.
