nummulite Zool.|ˈnʌmjʊlaɪt| [f. L. nummul-us, dim. of nummus coin + -ite1 2.] A genus of fossil foraminiferous cephalopods belonging to the order Polythalamia, found abundantly in the Tertiary strata; an individual of this genus.
