‖ nymphæum, -eum Archæol.|nɪmˈfiːəm| Pl. -æa, -ea. [L. nymphæum, -ēum, ad. Gr. νυµϕαῖον, -εῖον temple or shrine of the nymphs, neut. of νυµϕαῖος, -εῖος sacred to the nymphs, f. νύµϕη nymph n. So F. nymphéum.] A grotto or shrine of the nymphs; a building, or part of one, designed to represent this.
