1. An object which is displayed as an ornament.

3. objet d'art |ɔbʒɛ dar|, a small artistic object; a curio; a precious and finely worked ornament. Also transf. Also objet d'art et de vertu (see sense 6 below and virtu, vertu 1 c). Cf. object of art (and virtu) (object n. 3 c).
