opto-coupler, n. Electronics.|ˈɒptəʊˌkʌplə(r)| [f. opto- + coupler n.] An electronic component which allows current to pass through it only when a beam of light, etc. within it is unobstructed, and which may be used as an isolator in an electrical circuit.
