optometer|ɒpˈtɒmɪtə(r)| [opto- + -meter.] A name of instruments of various kinds, for measuring or testing vision, in respect of range, acuteness, perception of form or colour, etc.; esp. one for measuring the refractive power of the eye and thus testing long- or short-sightedness.
