‖ Oscillatoria Bot.|ɒsɪləˈtɔərɪə| [mod.L., fem. of *oscillātōrius: see next and -ory.] A genus of confervoid Algæ, typifying the family Oscillatoriaceæ, growing in dense slimy tufts, in running or stagnant water, and exhibiting an oscillatory or wavy motion. Also called Oscillaria.
