oxyphil, a. Biol.|ˈɒksɪfɪl| Also -phile. [f. Gr. ὀξυ- sharp, acid + -ϕιλος loving, -phile.] ‘Acid-loving’: applied to certain white blood-corpuscles or other cells having an affinity for acid dyes.
