‖ paraphrenitis Path.|pærəfrɪˈnaɪtɪs| [mod.L., f. para-1 1 + phrenitis.] A term for inflammation of the diaphragm, formerly thought to be invariably accompanied by delirium; hence applied to delirium supposed to be so produced. Cf. parafrenesie.
