paroxytone, a. and n. Gram., chiefly Gr. Gram.|pəˈrɒksɪtəʊn| [ad. mod.L. paroxyton-us, a. Gr. παροξύτον-ος, f. παρ(α- beside, past + ὀξύτονος oxytone. In F. paroxyton (1570 in Hatz.-Darm.).] a. adj. Having an acute accent on the last syllable but one. b. n. A word so accented.
