parsettensite Min.|pɑːˈsɛtənzaɪt| [ad. G. parsettensit (J. Jakob 1923, in Schweiz. min. und petrogr. Mitt. III. 227), f. Alp Parsettens, name of the locality in Val d'Err, Graubünden, E. Switzerland where it was first found: see -ite1 2 b.] A basic silicate of manganese that often contains appreciable potassium and occurs as copper-red masses.

III. 103 Parsettensite..was shown by Fankuchen..to be a manganese stilpnomelane, and it is proposed to retain this name to describe varieties rich in manganese. 1968I. Kostov Mineral. 362 Transitional towards the vermiculite group are stilpnomelane, ekmanite, and parsettensite, with formulas similar to those of the illites but as a rule without aluminium in tetrahedral co⁓ordination. |
