A small patella; one of the sucking disks or cups on the tarsus of water-beetles (Cent. Dict. 1890). So paˈtellulate a., furnished with or formed into a patellula (ibid.); paˈtellule, a sessile receptacle in some lichens (Mayne Expos. Lex. 1857). |
