Pertaining to or designating Christian sects, movements, and individuals who emphasize the gifts of the Holy Spirit as recorded in Acts ii, seek to express their religious feelings uninhibitedly (e.g. clapping, shouting, and speaking with tongues) and often are fundamentalist in outlook and maintain that a ‘baptism in the Spirit’ manifested by speaking with tongues is to be sought by all Christians; freq. (with capital initial) forming part of the name of a sect.
