peptonize, v.|ˈpɛptənaɪz| [f. peptone + -ize.] trans. To convert (a proteid) into a peptone; esp. to subject (food) to an artificial process of partial digestion (predigestion) by means of pepsin or pancreatic extract, as an aid to weak digestion.
