1900Jrnl. Chem. Soc. LXXVIII. i. 626 The authors suggest that hydrogen peroxide, its acyl derivatives, and their peroxides should be called ‘hydroperoxide’, ‘peracids’ and ‘peroxides’ respectively. 1922J. W. Mellor Comprehensive Treat. Inorg. & Theoret. Chem. I. xiv. 959 The true peracids are either formed by the action of hydrogen peroxide on ordinary acids or their derivatives, or else they furnish hydrogen peroxide when hydrolyzed with dilute sulphuric acid. 1950N. V. Sidgwick Chem. Elements II. 871 Other compounds with the O{b1}O link are numerous per-acids (or peroxy-acids), such as persul, phuric, perboric, percarbonic, pertitanic, perchromic, etc. 1972Materials & Technol. IV. xiii. 477 All preparations of, and reactions with, organic peroxide and peracids should be conducted behind safety shields, because a reaction occasionally proceeds with uncontrollable violence. |
