‖ perineum, perinæum Anat.|pɛrɪˈniːəm| [Late L. (Cæl. Aurel. c 440) perinæum, -nēum, a. Gr. περίναιον, περίνεος, or perh. properly πηριν-: cf. in same sense πηρίνα; also πηρίς or πηρίν, acc. πηρῖνα scrotum.] The region of the body between the anus and the scrotum or vulva; denoting either the surface of this, or the mass of tissue (perineal body) of which this surface forms the base.
