peritreme Zool.|ˈpɛrɪtriːm| Also in L. form periˈtrema. [a. F. péritrème (Audouin 18..), f. Gr. περί round + τρῆµα perforation, hole.] a. A small chitinous ring surrounding a breathing-hole in an insect. b. The margin of the aperture of a univalve shell: = peristome 2 a (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
