‖ phasma|ˈfæzmə| [See prec.] 1. Earlier form of phasm, q.v. 2. Zool. A genus of cursorial orthopterous insects, typical of the family Phasmidæ, known from their appearance as Spectre-insects, or Walking-sticks. Hence ˈphasmid, any insect of the Phasmidæ.
