phlebotomist|flɪˈbɒtəmɪst| [f. phlebotomy (or its source), see -ist: cf. F. phlébotomiste (1732 in Dict. Trévoux).] Orig., one who practises phlebotomy; a surgeon who bleeds patients; a blood-letter. In mod. use, someone trained to take blood from a person for subsequent examination or transfusion.
