phylactoˈlæmatous, a. Zool. [f. mod.L. Phylactolæmata (f. Gr. ϕυλακτο-, f. ϕυλάσσειν to guard + λαιµός throat + L. -āta (pa. pple)) + -ous.] Belonging to the Phylactolæmata, an order of Polyzoa, having the lophophore bilateral, and the mouth overhung by a small ciliated mobile lobe, the epistome.
