Used attrib. (in pilger mill, pilger process, pilger roll, etc.) with reference to a rolling mill for reducing the outside diameter of a tube without changing the inside diameter, its two rollers each having a semicircular groove of decreasing diameter passing round the circumference, so that in conjunction they form a circular hole through which the tube can be forced on cylindrical mandrel and which decreases gradually and increases suddenly in size during each revolution of the rollers.
