A Maori name applied to several plants, esp. to Haloragis micrantha, a shrubby plant found in India, south-eastern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand; also to Acæna Sanguisorba, used as tea and as a medicine, called by the colonists by corruption biddy-biddy.
(In the former sense misprinted piri-jiri (see A. Cunningham in Ann. Nat. Hist. (1839) III. 30), an error repeated in some dictionaries.)
