‖ porte-cochère|pɔrtkɔʃɛr| Also 7–8 (anglicized) port-cocher. [F., f. porte port n.3 + cochère, fem. adj. f. coche coach n.] A gateway for carriages, leading into a court-yard; a carriage-entrance.
