† poygné, poynyé Obs. Forms: 4–5 poygne, poyne, Sc. punȝe, pwnȝhe, 5 Sc. poynyhe, poyhne, ponyhe. [a. OF. poignié or poigniee:—late L. type pugnāta, f. pugnāre to fight.] A fight, combat, skirmish.
