1933L. Bloomfield Language viii. 132 English final clusters consist of two, three, or four non-syllabics. One can describe the combinations most simply by saying that each cluster consists of a main final consonant, which may be preceded by a pre-final, which in turn may be preceded by a second prefinal; further, the main final may be followed by a post-final. 1965Amer.
