A. adj. Of or pertaining to Asia or its inhabitants; formerly used to describe a florid and imaginative literary style. Asiatic cholera (see cholera 3).
B. n. A native of Asia. † ˈAsiatall, † Asiˈatical a., = Asiatic. Asiˈatically adv., in Asiatic manner, in accordance with Asiatic customs. † Asiˈatican a. and n., = Asiatic. Asiˈaticism, imitation of Asiatic usage, an Asiatic phrase. Asiˈaticize, improperly ˈAsiatize v., to make Asiatic, to conform to Asiatic customs.
