prothetely Ent.|prəʊˈθɛtəlɪ| [ad. G. prothetelie (H. J. Kolbe 1903), in Allgemeine Zeitschr. f. Entom. VIII. 1), f. Gr. προθεῖν to run before + τέλος end: see -y3.] In certain insect larvæ, the development of one part of the body, esp. the wings, at a faster rate than that of the rest. Hence protheˈtelic a., of or pertaining to this type of development.
