Attila, n.|əˈtɪlə, ˈætɪlə| [mod. L. (adopted as a genus name in Fr. in R. P. Lesson Traité d'Ornithol. (1831) I. 360), a. the name of Attila (c 406–53), king of the Huns.] A genus of tropical American flycatchers (family Tyrannidae) characterized by a large hooked bill;(also attila) a bird of this genus.
