Baianism|ˈbeɪjənɪz(ə)m| [Cf. F. baïanisme (1738), baïaniste (1720).] The heretical teaching of the Flemish theologian Michel de Bay (latinized as Baius), 1513–89, a forerunner of the Jansenists. So ˈBaianist, a supporter of this teaching, a follower of Bay. Also attrib. or as adj.
