Field Pear Culture viii. 191 Bartlett.., it was originally found in Berkshire, England, in 1770, and brought to Roxbury, Mass., in 1797, under the name of Williams' Bon Chrétien. 1901L. H. Bailey Cycl. Amer. Hort. III. 1243/1 Such varieties as Kieffer and Bartlett are usually classified as self-sterile kinds. 1986Auckland Metro Feb. 27/1 William Bon Chretien.
