‖ pseudoperipteros, -on Anc. Arch.|psjuːdəʊpəˈrɪptərɒs, -ɒn| Also 7 (after F.) pseudoperipter. [a. late Gr. ψευδοπερίπτερος (Vitruv.), f. ψευδο- pseudo- + περίπτερος peripter, -eros. In F. pseudo-périptère (Littré).] A form of temple or other building with free columns forming a portico in front (and sometimes in rear) as in a peripteral building, but the rest of the columns engaged in the walls instead of standing free. Hence pseudopeˈripteral a., having the structure of a pseudoperipteros.
