Sargonid, n. and a.|ˈsɑːgənɪd| Also -ide. [f. the Akkadian royal name Sargon + -id, after Seleucid, etc.: cf. -id3.] A. n. A member of the Assyrian dynasty founded by Sargon II (ruled 722–705 b.c.), which remained in power until the fall of Assyria in 607 b.c.
