‖ punˈtal Obs. Also 6 (anglicized) pointall. [a. Sp. puntal, f. punto point.] Properly, the name of a block-house on a point of sand at the entrance into the harbour of Cadiz; extended to a similar defensive work elsewhere; in Eng. usually plural, and treated as a common noun.
