▪ I. † boud Obs. or dial. Also 5 boude, 5–7 bowde, 6 bowd, 8 bood, 9 bude. [Of unknown origin; identity with OE. budda, ME. bod(de in scharnboddes dung-beetles, has been conjectured.] A weevil; an insect or worm which breeds in malt, etc. Also in comb., as boud-eaten.
