scombroid, a. and n.|ˈskɒmbrɔɪd| Also (earlier) scomberoid. [f. Gr. σκόµβρ-ος scomber + -oid. Cf. F. scombéroïde (Cuvier).] A. adj. Resembling the mackerel; belonging to the family Scombridæ.
