Buchanite Hist.|ˈbʌkənaɪt| [f. the name of Mrs. Elspeth Buchan (1738–91), commonly known as Lucky Buchan + -ite1.] A member of a sect which arose in 1783, in the Relief Congregation, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland, and became extinct in 1848 on the death of the only surviving member. Mrs. Buchan believed herself to be the woman of Rev. xii.
