‖ Purāna|pʊˈrɑːnə| Forms: 7 poran(e, 9 pooraun, poorána, 8– purāna. [Skr. purāṇá belonging to former times, f. purā formerly. Cf. F. pourana, formerly pouran, puran.] One of a class of sacred poetical works in Sanskrit, containing the mythology of the Hindus. Also attrib.
