1579Twyne Phisicke agst. Fort. i. xlii. 60 b, Oftentymes great infamie groweth vppon small causes, and vile bye tearmes, vppon honourable names. 2. In University of Cambridge: A term which is not the main one for entering or for taking degrees. (The degree of B.A. can be taken after residing for a certain number of terms; but to make this fit with the annual examination for honours, a student must enter at the beginning of the October term.)
