‖ calade|kaˈlad, kəˈleɪd| [a. F. calade in same sense, ad. It. calata descent, f. calare:—L. chalāre, ad. Gr. χαλᾶ-ν to let down, let fall.] The slope of a manège ground, down which a horse is ridden at speed, to teach him to ply his haunches.
