† caladrie Obs. rare. Wyclif's adaptation of the Charadrius of the Vulgate, Χαραδριός of the Septuagint. The latter was, ‘according to Sundevall, the stone-curlew or thick-kneed bustard, Charadrius Œdicnemus’ (Liddell and Scott). Caladrius occurs also in later writers (quoting from Aristotle) as some reputed white bird.
